Capturing the 2025 House Beautiful Whole Home Show House — Austin, TX

This recent project for Hunter Douglas and House Beautiful brought me to Austin, Texas, to photograph the 2025 Whole Home Show House — a collaboration that celebrates creativity, craftsmanship, and design innovation.

Each year, House Beautiful invites top interior designers to transform a home into a showcase of style and functionality. Shooting this project was a chance to document their collective vision — a mix of bold design choices, layered materials, and inspiring color stories.

Before the shoot, I worked closely with the House Beautiful and Hunter Douglas teams to plan a visual approach that would capture both the individuality of each designer’s space and the overall cohesion of the show house. The goal was to create a consistent photographic style that highlighted texture, light, and the thoughtful use of window treatments throughout.

Shooting a show house is always a fast-paced and collaborative experience. Each room tells a completely different story — from modern minimalism to playful pattern and color. Lighting setups varied from soft, natural daylight to more dramatic compositions that emphasized form and depth.

I love photographing show houses because they give designers total creative freedom. There’s a sense of experimentation and joy that comes through in every shot.

The finished photos highlight the versatility of each designer’s approach while maintaining a cohesive visual tone. From the earthy warmth of natural materials to the sculptural drama of statement furniture, every space offered something distinct.

These images will be featured in House Beautiful and across Hunter Douglas’s marketing channels, showcasing the power of design without limits.

The photographs will appear in digital and print features, on social media, and in promotional materials for both brands. Capturing this project not only documented an incredible collaboration but also provided visual content that celebrates innovation and design storytelling.
